Position Summary
Mercury Insurance’s Complex Catastrophe Claims Manager leads the response to claims that require our highest level of expertise, coordination, and care. This role supports policyholders and communities after severe events such as extensive wildfires, major hurricanes, tornadoes, and other large-scale catastrophes.
You will lead a geographically dispersed Complex Catastrophe Response Team responsible for high-severity property claims and surge operations. You will set the direction for complex claim handling, guide high-severity claim decisions, coordinate resources across multiple functions, and help ensure that customers receive clear communication, timely decisions, and thoughtful support during difficult moments. You will strengthen organizational capacity and coordinate response across Claims, Operations, Legal, Underwriting, Finance, Technology, Communications, and external partners.
This is both a strategic and hands-on leadership role. You will help plan and run Mega CAT scenarios, develop and maintain catastrophe-response protocols, improve readiness, strengthen organizational capacity, and lead execution when an event occurs. You will partner with senior leaders and teams across Claims, Operations, Legal, Underwriting, Finance, Special Investigations, Subrogation, Technology, Communications, vendors, independent adjusters, and other business partners.
Technology, data, and change agility are central to this role. You will use digital tools, operational dashboards, analytics, and emerging capabilities to improve decision-making, strengthen response coordination, increase capacity, and adapt quickly as customer needs, claim conditions, and business priorities change.
The position is remote with regular field travel and CAT deployments. During an active event, the role may require extended hours, weekends, holidays, and rapid travel to affected areas. Travel expectations will vary based on business needs and the severity, location, and duration of each event.
If you are energized by complex problem-solving, calm under pressure, committed to customer care, and motivated by developing people and improving how catastrophe claims are handled, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference at Mercury.
