We are looking for an experienced Account Manager (m/f/d) – Clinical Diagnostics to drive commercial growth across Eastern and Central Germany.
In this field-based role, you will take ownership of a strategically important sales territory, developing existing customer relationships while identifying and winning new business opportunities.
As a trusted advisor to clinical laboratories and healthcare customers, you will combine your scientific understanding with a consultative sales approach to identify customer needs, understand laboratory workflows and develop solutions that deliver measurable value.
You will work closely with customers, key decision-makers and internal cross-functional teams to expand our market presence, increase revenue and strengthen long-term partnerships.
A Day in the Life
- Develop and execute strategic territory and account plans to achieve or exceed annual sales targets
- Take full ownership of revenue growth, pipeline development and commercial performance within the assigned territory
- Manage, develop and grow relationships with existing key accounts
- Identify, qualify and convert new business opportunities within clinical laboratories and other relevant customer segments
- Build strong relationships with laboratory managers, clinicians, procurement teams, technical specialists and other key decision-makers
- Apply a consultative selling approach to understand customer applications, workflows, challenges and future requirements
- Position Thermo Fisher Scientific’s clinical diagnostic solutions effectively and develop compelling value propositions
- Manage the complete sales cycle, from opportunity identification and customer engagement through negotiation and closing
- Collaborate closely with Applications, Technical Service, Marketing, Customer Service and other commercial teams to deliver an outstanding customer experience
- Maintain an accurate and high-quality sales pipeline, forecast and customer data within Salesforce
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities and customer developments to identify new growth opportunities
- Represent Thermo Fisher Scientific at customer meetings, industry events, conferences and exhibitions
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and develop sustainable, long-term business partnerships
Keys to Success
You combine a strong scientific or technical background with commercial drive and a genuine passion for understanding and solving customer challenges.
You are comfortable managing a large territory independently, identifying growth opportunities and engaging with stakeholders at different levels of an organization. At the same time, you enjoy working collaboratively within a global, cross-functional organization.
Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Medical Technology or another relevant scientific discipline
- Minimum 5 years of successful sales experience, preferably within clinical diagnostics, IVD, laboratory solutions, life sciences, medical technology or healthcare
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets and developing a sales territory
- Experience managing complex customer relationships and sales cycles
- Experience working with clinical laboratories, hospitals or other diagnostic customers is highly desirable
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong technical and scientific understanding, with the ability to quickly understand customer applications and laboratory workflows
- Excellent consultative selling, communication, presentation and negotiation skills
- Strong commercial mindset with the ability to identify and develop new business opportunities
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted, long-term relationships with customers and key decision-makers
- Strong analytical, strategic planning and territory management capabilities
- Results-oriented, proactive and accountable approach to sales
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a cross-functional and matrix organization
- Proficiency with CRM systems, preferably Salesforce, and Microsoft Office applications
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to travel approximately 50–75% within the assigned territory
Language Requirements
- Fluent German is essential (C1 level or above)
- Strong professional English skills are required for communication within our international organization
