Job description

Senior Product Designer I (Remote Eligible) at Smartsheet

For over 20 years, Smartsheet has empowered teams to manage work seamlessly and scale solutions smarter. Now, in our most ambitious chapter yet, we are uniting human teams with AI agents. By orchestrating the work agents do best, automating manual tasks and uncovering insights at scale, we create the space for people to focus on what truly matters: judgment, creativity, and big thinking. That is magic at work, and it’s what we show up for every day.

As a member of the Experience Design team, you will shape the future of work, making our category-leading work execution platform valuable, elegant, and engaging. As a Senior Product Designer, you will apply principles of design thinking to conceptualize and create engaging, valuable, and intuitive user experiences for our web and mobile apps. You will represent the end-user and promote human-centered methodologies across the product team to ensure new designs that meet people's needs from first-time users to seasoned experts.

This role is focused on enterprise and platform design, driving strategic impact by designing scalable, sophisticated experiences that empower large organizations and complex teams. You will play a critical role in elevating our platform architecture and feature depth while maintaining the highest bar of craft and quality for our users. This role blends deep UX craft, strategic thinking, and systems-level thinking to solve enterprise challenges while driving measurable business outcomes. You'll work closely with product leadership and engineering to translate platform requirements and user insights into elegant, scalable solutions. You'll lead with design thinking, build robust design systems, and bring others along through clear storytelling and a sharp focus on outcomes.

You will report to our Manager, Product Design, and you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.

You Will

  • Advocate for the needs of your audience and enterprise users, leveraging design thinking and user research
  • Partner closely with research and data teams to inform design decisions and validate solutions
  • Help boost design quality and system maturity through your work and contributions to our design infrastructure
  • Contribute to and leverage defined patterns, guides, tools, and libraries to deliver scalable work in service of enterprise feature design
  • Explain and defend the context, merits, and goals of your ideas and solutions across all required mediums
  • Work cross-functionally with partners across product, engineering, and business to align on strategy and execution
  • Design and evolve sophisticated features that address complex user workflows and enterprise requirements
  • Establish and champion design best practices, mentoring junior team members and elevating the craft across the organization
  • Create understanding across product teams to launch new features and evolve existing ones based on user needs, business goals, and technical constraints
  • Support other duties as assigned

You Have

  • 7+ years of experience as a Product Designer, Interaction Designer, or similar role
  • Strong visual design skills and proven ability to influence design quality at the organizational level
  • Demonstrated expertise delivering complex, scalable experiences within SaaS or enterprise environments
  • Clear leadership qualities demonstrated through design work, mentoring, and cross-team influence
  • Experience facilitating design activities and design thinking workshops to align on goals, outcomes, and requirements across the organization
  • Strong collaboration skills and resilience to stakeholder feedback
  • Applied understanding of design systems and design principles—hierarchy, interaction, typography, color, layout, and accessibility
  • Expertise in agentic and generative design workflows, leveraging modern tools and methodologies to accelerate design exploration and validation
  • Ability to design for lovability—creating experiences that users genuinely enjoy and recommend to others
  • Desire to learn and evolve your thinking across all areas of design, product, and leadership
  • Degree in Design (Interaction, Product, Communication, HCD, or related) or equivalent professional experience

Nice to Have

  • Experience designing for enterprise or B2B SaaS/ Enterprise products
  • Experience with accessibility (WCAG) standards and accessible design practices
  • Background in user research, usability testing, or user-centered design validation
  • Experience with design systems, component libraries, or design infrastructure
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools and practices, or experience integrating generative workflows into design processes

Current US Perks & Benefits

  • 401k Match to help you save for your future (50% of your contribution up to the first 6% of your eligible pay)
  • Monthly stipend to support your work and productivity
  • Flexible Time Away Program, plus Sick Time Off
  • US employees are automatically covered under Smartsheet-sponsored life insurance, short-term, and long-term disability plans
